Proteome
The complete set of proteins produced by a cell
Proteome is the term used to describe the complete set of proteins produced by a cell or tissue, as products of activated genes, during a specific stage of development or differentiation.
The composition of the proteome changes during the course of the cell cycle and life of an organism. In contrast to the genome (the complete set of genetic information), which always stays the same, the proteome is dynamic. The developmental stages of egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly are the best known example, having the same genome, but different proteomes.
